Welcome to Dorchester Chess Club
Dorchester Chess Club meets every Thursday from September to May at 7.15pm for 7.30pm in the Colliton Club, Dorchester, DT1 1XJ.
The 2024/25 new season started on Thursday 5th September with the Annual General Meeting and continues until May 2025.
Players of all standards are welcome.
We currently hold, or participate in, a number of competitions:
**A club championship that runs throughout the season;
**A handicap knockout tournament with a handicap that favours weaker players;
**A quick play tournament held early in the New Year;
**We expect to enter teams in each of the divisions in the Dorset League where we try to match players with those of a similar standard.
**We expect to enter one team in the Dorset Handicap Tournament;
**We host a Jamboree tournament each September with up to 7 other clubs competing;
**We encourage members to also play informal games during club evenings.

Membership costs £40 per season (£20 for the first season of membership) and £20 for juniors (£10 for first season of membership). Players are also required to become members of the Colliton Club at an additional cost of £10 per year which allows members to access their benefits including a very reasonably priced bar. Members also need to join the English Chess Federation to be eligible for graded competitions.
